An alleged cow smuggler was lynched by a mob while his four accomplices were apprehended by police with the help of local people after nearly four hours of chase in the forests in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday.
Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul Narwekar on Tuesday said he has asked the state police to maintain strict vigil and seal borders to ensure there is no transportation of cattle from neighbouring states and also no attack on gau rakshaks (cow vigilantes).
The police argued that Pehlu Khan's sons have said they were going to sell the animals in Tapukara in Rajasthan's Alwar, contrary to the investigation earlier which suggested that the cows were being taken to another state.
